aouc2011_200WFDF is pleased to announce that the WFDF 2011 Asia Oceanic Ultimate Championships will be held in Kaohsiung, Chinese Taipei, from 1 to 4 December 2011. Upon the recommendation of the Ultimate Committee, the WFDF Board of Directors approved the bid from the Chinese Taipei Flying Disc Association (CTFDA) during their latest meeting, thus returning Ultimate to the venue of the 2009 World Games competitions.

The National Stadium as main venue of the World Games in Kaohsiung 2009, where Ultimate was the most successful competition attracting some 50.000 spectators, will be the showcase venue for the Championship finals on 4 December 2011, commented Robert (Nob) Rauch, WFDF President.

We are glad to see such an experienced organizing team, led by Michael Hu, agree to host this important event in 2011. It is a goal for us to strengthen the Continental Ultimate Championship series to complement our World Championships and so it is exciting to see our Asian event gathering participation and prestige. Three divisions will be played during AOUC 2011: men, women and mixed.

The Organizers in Kaohsiung expect a participation of some 400-550 players from the WFDF member Federations in the Asian and Oceanic regions like Japan, Australia, Singapore, Philippines, and Peoples Republic of China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Vietnam, and South Korea. We do hope that teams from New Zealand, Thailand, Malaysia and India can join the competitions, too, commented Michael Hu from the CTFDA. This is a great challenge for us but with the full support of our sports authorities we are convinced to see great Ultimate events again in Kaohsiung.
